Wedding Gift Commission

This was such a special project to be a part of. My client wrote this poem as a gift for her daughter’s wedding and contacted me about transforming it into a piece of art to hang on the wall. 

Handmade wedding gift. A poetry calligraphy commission in modern calligraphy script.

The writing style was carefully chosen to echo the words in the poem, with lots of movement to symbolise the flowing water. One thing I love about calligraphy commissions is that I’m creating something more than just words; It’s a piece of art. The writing style, layout, spacing, colour, paper, size and flourishes all contribute, resulting in a piece that can look illustrative or even abstract.

This piece was A2 in size and was shipped off to America in time for the special day.
