I hand-painted a series of signs and branded lettering for The Wilds @ The Beehive in County Wicklow. This included three hatch signs—Order Here, Collect Here, and Takeaway Here—a geometric fox logo on the coffee hatch, and lettering on the gate with the café name and “Drive Thru.”

The gate was tricky to paint because of the uneven, raised wood, which meant a lot of stepping back and checking each letter. Working outside in a cold Irish winter had its challenges, though having coffee on hand was a convenient way to keep fingers warm while painting.

The signs were hand-painted to reflect the café and shop’s ethos, where quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design are important. They guide visitors while fitting naturally into the space, quietly becoming part of the everyday experience.

This project was a reminder of the care involved in hand-painted signage and lettering, and how considered design can enhance both function and the character of a space.
