Gorey Civic Centre Outdoor Mural

I created this mural for Gorey Civic Centre’s outdoor mural wall during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the process featured in the Irish Independent. Painted in a bold, bright, graphic style, the large-scale public mural incorporates my love of hand lettering and calligraphy, featuring the town name and county in both English and Irish.

The design takes viewers on a visual journey through Gorey, highlighting hand-painted local landmarks like the town monument, Market Square House, and Tara Hill. The aim was to capture the town’s unique character and sense of community through bespoke mural painting, creating a colourful, engaging, and locally meaningful piece that residents and visitors can enjoy.

Love Gorey, 2021

Nonie studied Visual Communications in the National College of Art and design and now specialises in graphic design, calligraphy, and illustration. When I first looked at this mural of her artistic creation, I was struck by the welcoming aspect of it on the first panel and the clear message of respect for Gorey.
